Review moderation policy
Every review published on The Door was read by a human before it appeared. This page says on what criteria, and what you can do if you disagree with a decision.
Anonymous in public, verified in private
Nobody signs a review of a swinger club with their own name, and we do not ask them to. Your review appears under a pseudonym of your choosing. Your email address is verified through a confirmation link, then kept apart from the reviews, in a form that does not allow it to be traced back from a published text.
It appears nowhere on the site, it is shared neither with the venue concerned nor with anyone else, and it is never sold. It serves two purposes, and only two: checking that the review comes from a real person, and writing to tell you the outcome.
Read before publication, never after
We read every review before it appears, rather than after it is reported. That is slower — expect a few days — and it is the reason the reviews shown here are worth something.
The reading is about the text, never about the rating. A well-argued one-star review is published as it stands; a five-star review that says nothing about the venue is not. We never edit a text: we publish it, or we tell you why we are not publishing it.
What a venue can and cannot do
A venue may publish a reply beneath a review concerning it. That reply is read against the same criteria as the review itself.
A venue cannot have a review removed because it dislikes it, cannot have it pushed down, and cannot buy anything that weighs on reviews or on its ranking. We remove a review at a venue request in one case only: when the ground is objective and checkable — demonstrated falsehood, illegal content, identification of a person, plainly off topic.
Reviews that are paid for, gifted, or obtained in exchange for something are banned outright. We do not offer to disclose them: we do not publish them.
You stay in control of what you wrote
Every decision email carries a personal management link. It lets you, at any time and without creating an account, withdraw your review from the listing, or have it permanently erased from our servers — in which case your email address goes with it if this was your only review.
That link is valid for two years. Past that, or if it is lost, write to contact@thedoor.vip from the address used when submitting.
Grounds for declining
A declined review is always declined on one of these grounds, and the ground is communicated to you. Some concern the writing: you may then write another review of the same venue. Others concern the intent: the decision is final for that venue.
A review that brings no concrete element about the venue.
You may write another one
A text that is not about the establishment.
You may write another one
A review clearly posted on the wrong listing.
You may write another one
A sexually explicit description. The Door shows the door, not what lies behind it.
You may write another one
Anything that makes a natural person identifiable, whether staff or guest.
You may write another one
A serious accusation the text does not support. A fact witnessed and told precisely is publishable; its criminal characterisation is not.
You may write another one
A review coming from the venue, from a competitor, or written in exchange for something. Paid or incentivised reviews are banned outright, with no disclosure option.
Final for that venue
Illegal content: incitement to hatred, threats, content involving minors, non-consensual content.
Final for that venue
A coordinated burst, a duplicated text, or any attempt to weigh artificially on a venue rating, upward or downward.
Final for that venue
A decision looks unfair to you? Reply to the email you received, or write to contact@thedoor.vip. A person will read it again.
